If you’re not conducting exit interviews with people leaving your team, how are you supposed to prevent it from happening again, and again… and… again?
Exit interviews are the key to enhancing employee retention and engagement. They’re incredibly insightful.
They’re a chance for you to be solution-focused and consider whether there’s something you may need to be more mindful of and address as an employer to improve your staff happiness and retention levels.
People leave for a reason. Have an open, honest conversation with people exiting your business and create a safe space for them to provide useful feedback.
Then, track those trends. If there’s a theme starting to present itself with why people are leaving your team, you know what you need to focus on and find solutions to, not only to prevent more from following but to up your game as an employer in general, making it easier for you to attract and engage staff too.
Remember, take action!
There’s no use in knowing what’s causing people to leave if you’re not willing to do something about it.
Then, continue to monitor the situation through staff check-ins, review meetings, staff surveys, etc.
