One of the biggest reasons businesses lose out on great candidates? Delays.
Everything has become incredibly time sensitive, more so than ever before.
In the 4 days it has taken for you to schedule the interview, the candidate has booked in 3 other interviews. In the 2 days it took to get an offer together, the candidate has already accepted one elsewhere.
Sounds dramatic, but we cannot express enough how time sensitive the hiring process has become.
We fully understand it’s a big investment and an important decision to make, and therefore can’t be rushed, it’s about being prepared to dedicate your time to the hiring process and act with speed and accuracy to get the position filled with the right person.
The best candidates are not on the market for long.
A few ways to keep things moving:
✅ Set deadlines for feedback and decisions (internally and with your Recruiter)
✅ Communicate clearly, even a quick update can keep candidates engaged
✅ Block out interview slots in advance, even before shortlisting
✅ Interview candidates of interest ASAP, don’t delay by waiting for more to come through
✅ Do not leave too much time between 1st and 2nd interviews
✅ Be prepared to offer the position as soon as you have found the right person. Try not to let yourself be led into thinking you need to see more people to compare as this may cost you your strongest candidate.
Hiring quickly doesn't mean rushing. It’s about making time and being decisive.
