🏢🏡 Flexible working is still a dealbreaker for most – Candidates continue to prioritise roles with remote or hybrid working options, as well as flexible working hours. Employers who offer genuine flexibility are consistently attracting stronger talent and they’re hiring faster.
💸📈 Salaries are still on the rise – Candidates know their value. Whilst salary expectations are increasing, Managing Agents aren’t seeing the same income growth. To stay competitive, employers must focus on what they offer beyond the salary. Counter offers are also adding complexity. Candidates are staying for the pay rise and then begin job hunting again within 6 months (because money rarely solves the problem!) but they’re now looking with even higher salary expectations.
🧑💼🚗 Candidate driven market – We remain in a very candidate-driven market, with more vacancies than there are suitable candidates. For employers, it’s a highly competitive space – standing out is harder. For experienced candidates, they're securing new positions quickly, with multiple job offers often coming in. The strongest candidates are moving fast – sometimes off the market in a matter of days.
⏰📝 Hiring takes time so plan ahead – Given the shortage of candidates, recruitment timelines are being extended. Employers should focus on a proactive approach to recruitment. Start searches earlier, be open to speaking to candidates at all times, consider transferable skills, and streamline your hiring strategy and processes.
🔄💼 A change from the day-to-day – A number of Property Managers are looking to step away from traditional portfolio management roles. The high-pressure frontline environment is leading people to explore alternatives. Compliance roles, supplier side opportunities, and client side moves are particularly popular right now.
